Hi Gary,

Yes, DB Schenker and I arranged for delivery today and it actually arrived about an hour ago. I noted a couple of punctures on the carton, but they were rather superficial and I was confident the furniture was not damaged. Actually the chair is in perfect condition. I noticed you left off the strips after all (if you recall my agonized e-mail about that). Since this chair will always be on a rug, I imagine it will be just fine.

Well, now as to what I'd really like to say: Even though I had such high expectations from my previous experience, I was just as excited to see our new rocking chair as I was the first time. The mesquite is gorgeous! My husband is thrilled with his birthday present and can now rock and read just as comfortably in New York as he can in San Francisco. Thanks again and again for such fine work.

The eagle has landed.

By way of preliminary, please understand that I do not use superlatives. Superlatives are misused so much, they have lost their meaning. When a person characterizes something as "the best" of its kind, it makes me think the speaker has limited experience, or a small vocabulary, or is trying to sell you the thing being described. So here are my comments:

I like my new rocking chair. I like everything about it. Since it arrived, I have been sitting in my chair and smiling. The only reason I stood up is that I had to type this note on my computer. I am going back to my chair now. Woe to the person who makes me stand up again.

Hi Gary,

Thank you for donating $1,500 towards the purchase of 2 rocking chairs for our new Longmont Wellness Education Center!

We love them and so do our clients. We positioned them by the fireplace and every time that I am in the facility, the chairs are NEVER vacant!

I also think they fit perfectly with helping our clients to self-sooth and be more at ease while waiting for their medications and treatment.

I have attached a photo here for you! (This was on move in day and since then both rockers are placed facing the fireplace.)

In the future, we plan on building a new facility offering our new treatment for mental illness in Boulder, CO and will be in touch in the future to purchase more rockers!

Gary, Thanks for your email! We are LOVING our rocking chair! Prior to the chair's arrival, we couldn't get A. to spend any time in her little sister's room. Now that the chair is in E.'s room, we can't get A. to play anywhere else . . . the girl loves to rock! You may hear from us again soon, as A. is already lobbying for a chair in her room, too. We may compromise on an outside chair we can all enjoy on our new patio. Not sure how the negotiations will go — for a toddler, she drives a hard bargain. Have a great 2011!

Wow!

No amount of web-surfing prepared me for the scale and presence of the chair. It's much more sculpted than I expected, and I'm delighted.

Ok, so no damage (kudos on your packing skills). The back splat is pretty dang incredible. And, as advertised, I like the sit. I suspect I'll love the sit soon enough . . .

Every time I walk into the living room and see the new rocking chair, I smile. It's just so beautiful and elegant. And the walnut was well worth waiting for — it looks so deep and rich. Everyone who has seen it admired your extraordinary workmanship. It's also the most comfortable rocking chair I've ever sat in!

My husband hasn't seen his birthday present "in person" yet, but he's sussed out your web site and he thinks the rocker is simply gorgeous! I know he'll be as thrilled as I was when he does see it. I'll let you know.

I wanted to say something about the shipping. The shipping company, Saia?, was not very professional: they didn't come the day they said they would and then came the next day, in spite of the fact that I had called them and told them we wouldn't be home. Luckily, they came quite late in the day, so we were home, but the driver hadn't used any of the usual mapping resources to find out where our house is and didn't call us for directions until he was on the way. He was driving a huge 18-wheeler and was afraid to come into our lake community and deliver to the house. Luckily, again, a friend with a truck was available to take it from the truck to our house.

[ Unknown to us, our dependable carrier, DBSchenker, handed the chair off to a third party for this rural shipment. We regret the inconvenience. —GW ]

That said, the chair arrived in perfect condition, thanks to your impeccable packing, and it is beautiful and beautifully comfortable.

The joinery and satin finish on the wood are perfect and your artistry in design and construction as well as your craftsman's attention to detail is like nothing I've ever seen. Hi Gary,

The chair arrived at my mother's house this afternoon. I was there to receive it and I wanted to let you know that everything arrived safely.

I did unpack it to inspect it and give it a try and I have to say that it is everything that I expected. It is beautifully made and extremely comfortable. I almost didn't go back to work just so I could take a nap in it. My mother has an inexpensive mass produced rocker that I did a side by side comparision with just for kicks. There is no comparision.

I am looking forward to many years of enjoyment from this purchase. I know my wife and daughter (and I) will love it. Thank you for all of your help. Give my thanks to your staff as well. They do very, very nice work.

Dear Mr. Weeks,

About three or four years ago my uncle from Dallas visited our place in Western Oregon. We had a wonderful reunion and visit. He looked around and said, "What, no rocking chair? You need a good rocking chair someday."

Shortly after his visit you notified me to expect an arrival of a gift and the rocker arrived soon after that, impeccably crafted AND shipped.

My uncle died shortly thereafter and I have this wonderful rocking chair that we just love to have for many reasons. It is just the nicest gift we have ever received and I love to tell visitors who sent it, who made it, and how much it means to us.

The rocker and footstool arrived this afternoon. Perfect! You sure make a nice rocker! I hesitated about the footstool, but am very glad I got it because it is the perfect height and my lower footstools would have put pressure on the bottom of my legs. And, as you claim, the rocker is very comfortable. At first, I was surprised by the arm height, but after a few minutes in the chair, I knew they were just where they needed to be.

The freight company was very good. They called me on Friday and told me they expected the item in Cincinnati (Cincinnati airport in Covington, KY, actually) this morning and arranged for today's delivery.

Hey Gary,

I am rocking away as I type this email. This rocker is more beautiful than I could have imagined. The finish is astounding! And it's absolutely just as comfortable as you've promised it would be.

I'm actually an amateur woodworker myself and will be building a crib and dresser for our new arrival. I'd already intended to use maple, but I'm afraid I'll never be able to achieve the glass-like finish of the rocker. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Gary,

The rocking chair arrived in perfect condition. The shipping carton looked fine and the delivery man was helpful and efficient getting the box into the house.

I carefully opened the box and gently eased it on one side so I could draw the chair out. I got the wrapping off and was thrilled by the smell of the wood and the smooth touch. It is so simple, elegant, and yet very substantial. It is so comfortable to sit in! The back support is great. There is just no comparison to any rocker I have ever tried.

My hubby is at work now, so he has not tried it yet, but he is in for a treat!

I have never seen such a beautiful, useful chair in all my life.
